Romelu Lukaku will not feature for Belgium in the UEFA Nations League third-place play-off against Italy on Sunday...

The Chelsea striker has reportedly left the Red Devils camp and returned to his homeland due to 'muscle fatigue', according to Belgium boss Roberto Martinez.

Lukaku played the full 90 minutes and scored in Thursday's 3-2 semi-final defeat to world champions France.

'It's an overload,' said Martinez at Saturday's pre-match press conference. 'He didn't feel 100 per cent to play tomorrow. It's soreness in his tissue.

'They're not in best conditions to play,' he added on Lukaku and former Chelsea star Eden Hazard, who is also struggling.

'They're leaving the national team camp due to these problems. I don't know how long it will take for them to recover.'

Martinez also revealed that Lukaku had returned initially to Belgium, rather than London, but insisted there was open dialogue between the national team and Chelsea's medical staff over the matter.

'Obviously there is an excellent understanding between the two sets of medical staff and we want to do the best for the player,' he claimed. 'Every decision is also made in agreement with the club.'
