Noni Madueke has outlined his desire to succeed at Chelsea, labelling us as the biggest club in London and one of the biggest in world football.

The winger, who hails from London, joined in January from PSV Eindhoven and has impressed in his early appearances in Chelsea blue, although didn’t feature against former side Tottenham at the weekend.

Nonetheless, Madueke did speak ahead of that clash in north London and explained why it was a no-brainer to return to the capital and join Chelsea once the opportunity arose.

‘When the interest came from Chelsea, there wasn’t any doubt in my mind that I wanted to come here,’ the exciting winger explained.

‘I’m from London and I always wanted to get back to the Premier League eventually, so this was just perfect. Chelsea is the biggest club in London but not just that, it’s one of the biggest clubs in the world so it was something that really excited me.

‘To come to such an exciting new project really appealed to me. I’m 20 years old, I know I’m not the finished article and in a league as tough as the Premier League, I know I’m going to have ups and downs and highs and lows.

‘Deep down though, I know I’m going to succeed here. There’s a reason that a club like Chelsea want to go out and buy you and that’s given me a lot of confidence and I just want to repay that faith now.’

Results on the pitch haven’t gone as expected since Madueke arrived at Stamford Bridge but the 20-year-old forward is in no doubt that things will change for the better soon, and highlights just how hard the team are working at Cobham to put things right.

‘You have to look longer-term here, it’s a project and we’ve had a lot of players come in,’ added Noni.

‘It’s going to take time for us all to click but trust me, if you see us at Cobham then you will notice how hard we are working. We all want the same thing, which is to be successful for Chelsea and I’m sure that will come soon.

‘I’m just so thankful to be here and now I just want to show what I can do and help the team start winning.’
