Chelsea can confirm that defender Maelys Mpome has today completed a permanent move to Brighton & Hove Albion.

Mpome joined Chelsea in 2024, following a four-year stint at Montpellier in her native France.

The 22-year-old made her Blues debut when she was introduced as a late substitute during a Champions League group-stage match against Real Madrid in October 2024.

In February 2025, the defender made her first Women’s Super League appearance against Everton, before going on to appear on four more occasions during the remainder of the campaign as we went on to win a domestic Treble in 2024/25.

On the international stage, Mpome has represented France at Under-16, Under-17, Under-19 and Under-20 levels before going on to make 10 appearances for the Under-23 side.

The centre-back now makes a permanent move to the English south coast, where she will play in the WSL next season.

Everyone at Chelsea would like to wish Maelys the very best for the future as she begins a new chapter in her career.
