Josh Acheampong and Tyrique George have earned their first call-ups to the England Under-21 squad while Jamie Gittens is also selected by manager Lee Carsley.

The Chelsea Academy graduates, both 19, have represented England throughout the age groups. They most recently featured for the Young Lions at Under-19 level. Our new signing Gittens has played 11 times for the Under-21s, scoring once.

The Chelsea trio have now been selected in Carsley’s 23-man squad for the Under-21 European Championship qualifying fixture away to Kazakhstan on Monday 8 September. England have won the past two tournaments and will want to begin their latest qualifying campaign with a victory in the far east of the continent.

Players born on or after 1 January 2004 are eligible to feature in the 2027 tournament, which is being held in Albania and Serbia.

Earlier on Friday, Reece James was named in the senior England squad.

Congratulations Josh, Ty and Jamie!
