Chelsea played in Malaysia on multiple occasions between 2003 and 2013 but the return there after 13 years away will be our first match staged outside of Kuala Lumpur.

The debut visit was to contest the Premier League Asia Cup, with Newcastle beaten on penalties in the final after the Malaysia national side had been overcome in the semi-final, and Malaysia select sides were the opposition in 2008, 2011 and 2013.

Our 2026 opponents, Johor Darul Ta'z, have dominated Malaysian football since we last played there and are widely regarded as one of Asia’s leading clubs.

They are nicknamed the Southern Tigers, and Chelsea fans in the region can now look forward to them taking on the Blues.
