Malo Gusto admits the Blues' narrow FA Cup final defeat to Manchester City at Wembley was a 'tough feeling' for him, his team-mates and the Chelsea supporters.

Our 17th appearance in English football's showpiece final did not end as hoped, but that was not for a lack of effort or application from the Blues.

We went toe-to-toe with Manchester City across the 90 minutes, creating several promising opportunities and having three penalty appeals turned down. Yet the decisive moment went the way of Pep Guardiola's side as Antoine Semenyo's inventive back-heeled finish proved the difference.

It was a painful defeat, as Gusto outlined when he faced the media. He said: 'I think we matched them in every point in the game. We showed a lot of energy and I think the plan was good. It was just a matter of not having that bit of luck.

'We’re disappointed. We wanted to win this game, but it didn’t happen. So it’s a tough feeling for us, for the fans, and for the club. To lose 1-0 this way is tough to accept, but we have to move forward now and stay together.'

There is little time for the Blues to ruminate on the defeat as we return to Premier League action on Tuesday night, facing London rivals Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge in our final home game of the campaign.

And Gusto highlighted the importance of responding positively in the two top-flight matches we still have to play this term.

He said: 'The season is not finished – there are two games left. We are disappointed tonight, but we have to move forward now. We have two games left in the Premier League and we have to fight again.'
