The first Chelsea player to be selected for the 2026 World Cup has been confirmed, with Malo Gusto named in the 26-man France squad.

Gusto, who has made 47 appearances for the Blues this season in all competitions, has established himself as a regular in the France set-up over the past 18 months.

The full-back has earned nine caps for his country and featured on five occasions for Les Bleus during their World Cup qualifying campaign, which saw them comfortably top a group that included Ukraine, Iceland and Azerbaijan.

Gusto is joined in the squad by former Chelsea midfielder N'Golo Kante, who played a key role as France triumphed at the 2018 World Cup.
