Malo Gusto is excited by the prospect of testing himself against Paris Saint-Germain, as we prepare for a historic FIFA Club World Cup final showdown with the Parisians on Sunday.

The French full-back has been a key figure in our journey to the final at the MetLife Stadium and is determined to finish the job and bring the trophy back home with us to Stamford Bridge.

Reflecting on the challenge ahead, Gusto says he is relishing the chance to face PSG. He believes the Blues are fully focused on the task at hand and should not be intimidated by the French side’s success this campaign.

‘We are Chelsea and we are here because we deserve it,’ Malo opened, speaking ahead of the final. ‘We are not worried, it will be a good test for us. Now, the most important thing is to show that we can compete against these types of teams.

‘I’m very happy to get to this final, it was our objective. Just getting here is not enough. Now it’s about trying to win and it will be a good title for us, the team, the fans and the club too.

'We will try to be ready as much as possible. We are just focused on ourselves and we will prepare the game in the best way. There are a lot of talented players on both teams.’

Gusto also took time to praise our head coach Enzo Maresca, and the tactical preparation that has played such a key role in getting the Blues this far. The defender believes the Italian’s detailed approach has been key to our progress, both domestically and on the international stage this season.

He continued: ‘He’s a top coach and that’s why we’re in the final, because of him – that includes getting into the Champions League for next season. He created a good team, good energy between us, so we are very happy.

‘He’s very detailed. He watches the team we face and focuses a lot on us, like how we’re going to build, how we’re going to press and the patterns we have to create between us. It helps us a lot.

'I think Maresca has added details – to think quickly, to defend together, to enjoy defending. Even many things about set-pieces. There are many details.’

Malo also had a message for the tens of thousands of Blues fans who will be in attendance at the MetLife Stadium on Sunday and the millions watching around the world.

He said: ‘Keep supporting us! We will try to represent the club and the fans as best as we can. We are very happy to have you behind us.’
