Having navigated the final international break of the season, the Blues are back in club colours and preparing to compete across three competitions during April, starting with a mouthwatering last-four encounter against Manchester United this weekend.

In a repeat of last year’s showpiece final, both sides will have their hearts set on a return to Wembley next month. The winners will face either Tottenham Hotspur or Leicester City, who go head-to-head in London on Sunday lunchtime.

We have faced stubborn opposition at every stage of the competition in the shape of West Ham United, Crystal Palace and Everton, and the Red Devils will prove another stern obstacle to overcome, with both teams now able to see the Wembley arch on the horizon.

We make the journey to Leigh Sports Village to take on Manchester United this Sunday, 14 April, with kick-off scheduled for 2.35pm (UK time).

The form

En route to the semi-final stage, we have faced resilient Women's Super League and Championship opposition on home soil in the fourth and fifth rounds - both ties pitted us against fellow London outfits in the shape of West Ham and Crystal Palace.

In the fourth round, extra time was required to see off the Hammers at Kingsmeadow. Viviane Asseyi gave the visitors the lead inside 20 minutes before Mia Fishel, Erin Cuthbert and Aggie Beever-Jones turned the tie on its head.

Mayra Ramirez opened her account for the Blues with a goal which helped us edge out Crystal Palace in the fifth round. With the possibility of extra time looming once more, the Colombian produced a moment of magic to set up a quarter-final trip to Everton.

In a tightly contested affair, Catarina Macario came off the bench to net the decisive goal with 25 minutes remaining on a wet and windy afternoon on Merseyside – the goal which paved the way for a blockbuster semi-final with Manchester United.

As for our hosts, they overcame Newcastle United, Southampton and Brighton & Hove Albion to reach the semi-final stage. Marc Skinner’s side will be hoping to reach the final for the second successive season.

Man United vs Chelsea recent head-to-head record

We faced Manchester United at Stamford Bridge in the WSL back in January, when Lauren James netted an impressive hat-trick, helping us to a 3-1 victory which bolstered our title charge.

After our FA Cup tie this weekend, we will face Manchester United in the reverse league fixture on the final day of the season at Old Trafford on Saturday 18 May, with kick-off at 3pm (UK time).
