Having starred as Spain won the European Championships two years ago, Marc Cucurella now has his sights set on helping his nation win the biggest prize of all.

Cucurella made the left-back spot his own at the Euros and provided the assist for Spain’s winning goal in the final against England. He hasn’t looked back.

Now the Chelsea defender is gearing up for his maiden appearance on the global stage. As he exclusively told us before heading off to North America, it is a challenge he believes the Spaniards are well prepared for.

‘It’s my first World Cup and I can’t wait to be there and enjoy this tournament,’ says Cucurella in our interview, which you can watch in full below.

‘The most important thing is to have a good group of people because at the end we share a lot of time together.

‘If the group is really strong outside the pitch, then on the pitch it’s much easier. All of us want to help, and all of us have the same intentions.

‘Hopefully we can arrive, play our best football – and why not arrive to the last stages? We go step by step, and let’s see what we can do.’
