Marc Cucurella says Chelsea will give ‘100 per cent’ to try and make history in today’s FA Cup final – and supporters can hear much more from the Spaniard on our exclusive pre-match live show from Wembley!
The 27-year-old appreciates that the ‘special’ day doesn’t just bring an opportunity to win a trophy, but also a chance to write his name into the Chelsea folklore, as we aim to win the world’s oldest domestic competition for the ninth time as Blues and Manchester City do battle in the FA Cup final for the first time later this afternoon.
In an interview for our pre-match live show, which will be shown exclusively on the Chelsea Official App and website, Marc reflected on the atmosphere he experienced in our previous Wembley visits and our determination to end the season with silverware.
‘It’s very special because it’s a massive stadium with lots of history,’ said Cucurella.
‘It’s not easy to reach this point. You need to play a lot of games, and then you have the opportunity to play there. You see the stadium and it's full of colour that is split in half, and it’s very special. The atmosphere is always big there, and having the responsibility and pleasure to play a final is always special.
‘It’s a very important game for us, and a very important competition. I think we have been through a lot of ups and downs this season, but in the end, we are fighting to win a trophy with Chelsea, and that is what all of us want.
‘We will give 100 per cent because we play against an amazing team, but we have shown we are very good players and a very good team, and if we are 100 per cent concentrated on the game, we can beat anyone. We will try to win. Chelsea have won it many times, and hopefully we can do the same and make history.’
You can watch the full interview with Cucurella – including his in-depth thoughts on the final and his special connection with the Blues faithful – during our live pre-match show from Wembley Stadium on the Chelsea Official App and website from 2.20pm (UK time).
Lee Parker will be joined by Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Jason Cundy from Wembley, while Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola will also speak to us in the show. Tune in from just after 2pm as we transport all Chelsea fans right into the heart of the action ahead of kick-off, including exclusive access inside the Blues dressing room.
