The 26-year-old was a key figure in the Spain side at the European championship this summer – and played the pass forMikel Oyarzabal to score La Roja's winner in the final against England.

As was the case with Cole Palmer – who netted for the Three Lions in that final in Berlin –  Cucurella was afforded extra time off before he had to join up with the Blues squad for pre-season.

That meant he wasn't part of our tour of the United States, which ended on Tuesday evening, but the full-back will join his teammates at Cobham today as our preparations for the new campaign continue.
