A first away win of the season. A first clean sheet under Xabi Alonso. And three more points to our Premier League tally. It's safe to say the travelling Blues supporters enjoyed their second visit to Everton's Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Ahead of the game, Xabi Alonso urged his players to show they had learned the lessons from our last away outing against Brentford. It was clear throughout a feisty opening 45 minutes the Blues had, as we stood up to the physical test posed by the Toffees.
We then took control in the second period. Pedro Neto netted 43 seconds after the restart and we restricted Everton to very little as they searched for a response.
A sickening collision between Emi Martinez and Jarrad Branthwaite forced the Blues goalkeeper off on a stretcher, but we stayed composed and, in the 90th minute, Neto struck his second of the game to seal all three points for Alonso's side.
We have collected our favourite images from today's victory on Merseyside, which saw the Blues wearing this season's third kit for the first time, which you can buy now on our online shop.
