It proved to be a frustrating evening for the Blues against Leeds United at Elland Road, with the only major positive being the return of Cole Palmer from injury.

We fell behind early in the game when Leeds defender Jaka Bijol powered home a near-post header from a Leeds corner. The hosts were then able to double their advantage before the interval when Ao Tanaka fired home an excellent strike from 20 yards.

Enzo Maresca's side responded after the break and a close-range finish from half-time substitute Pedro Neto did temporarily reduce the deficit.

Palmer's return came on the hour mark; it was the England international's first appearance since September 20. He had an opportunity to level the contest soon after his introduction after good work from Alejandro Garnacho, but the 23-year-old's effort went just the wrong side of the post.

Unfortunately, a defensive mix-up enabled Dominic Calvert-Lewin to score a third for Leeds, who were able to go and claim all three points.
