The Blues rounded off our pre-season trip to the Netherlands by drawing 1-1 in a friendly against Ajax, with Guro Reiten's goal cancelled out in the dying moments by Danique Tolhoek.
After five days of hard graft on the training pitches in Holland, the game provided Sonia Bompastor with an opportunity to run the rule over her squad as preparations continue ahead of next month's Women's Super League opener.
Summer arrivals Livia Peng, Ellie Carpenter and Mara Alber were among those named in the starting XI, but the game was goalless at the interval.
Second-half substitute Reiten broke the deadlock in the 69th minute with a well-executed finish and appeared to have won the game for the Blues. However, in the five additional minutes of stoppage time, Tolhoek was able to draw Ajax level in front of their supporters at Sportpark De Toekomst
Alongside Peng, Carpenter and Alber in the side that started were Naomi Girma, Veerle Buurman, Sandy Baltimore, Oriane Jean-Francois, Wieke Kaptein, Erin Cuthbert, Maika Hamano, and Cat Macario.
Hamano kicked things off and immediately went for goal. It was a fine attempt and forced a save from Ajax goalkeeper Regina van Eijk.
A series of corners followed, before Wieke Kaptein stung the goalkeeper's gloves with a powerful shot from the right-hand side of the area.
With a quarter of an hour gone, Peng was called into action for the first time as a dangerous ball was whipped in from an Ajax corner. The Swiss international, who impressed at Euro 2025, displayed her confidence and claimed it well.
The home side grew in confidence and, having found some space on the right, Bo van Egmond saw an opportunity to strike, but she dragged her shot well wide of the post.
Ajax's well-organised opposition made things difficult for the Blues, and a shoulder-to-shoulder challenge inside the box prevented Cuthbert from putting a cross in the box after a run from deep. The hosts then broke forward, and Peng got down well to save a shot from Lotte Keulelaar.
Bompastor's side were moving the ball well, but struggled to break through the Ajax backline and the contest was goalless at the break.
Changes were made at the interval, as Nathalie Bjorn, Johanna Rytting Kaneryd and Academy youngsters Eva Hendle and Lexie Potter were introduced. Girma, Baltimore, Jean-Francois and Cuthbert made away.
Potter immediately forced a save from Van Eijk, and up at the other end, Tolhoek fired a shot over the crossbar before Peng got down quickly to stop a low, hard attempt from the home side.
The Blues did have the ball in the back of the net soon after as Van Eijk attempted to claim Alber's shot from distance under pressure from Macario, who was able to head the ball into the net. However, a foul was awarded, and the goal was ruled out.
Bompastor made further alterations with just over an hour gone as Becky Spencer replaced Peng, Mille Bright came on for Buurman, Sjoeke Nusken was introduced for Kaptein, and Reiten stepped on for Alber. The winger soon made an impact.
In the 69th minute, the Norway international was able to get a shot away from the centre of the box and finished low into the bottom corner.
Reiten was lively and confident and went close again just two minutes later, but this time her attempt went just over the bar.
Ajax weren't done, though, and slammed a fierce shot off the crossbar before Spencer was forced to make a low save and Bright a crucial block to keep the clean sheet intact.
Five minutes were added at the end of the second half, and the home side poured forward again. But Nathalie Bjorn was in the perfect position to halt them.
A clean sheet wasn't to be, though, and a stoppage-time equaliser from Tolhoek saw Ajax earn a draw.
