It was another night to remember at the Bridge as Chelsea came from two goals down to beat London rivals West Ham United 3-2 thanks to Enzo Fernandez's injury-time winner.
It was a first half to forget for the Blues as our domination of possession counted for little as West Ham went into the interval 2-0 up thanks to goals from Jarrod Bowen and Crysencio Summerville.
But a triple change at the break from Liam Rosenior helped change the game as substitutes Joao Pedro and Marc Cucurella drew us level and the Enzo Fernandez secured the comeback with an injury-time winner.
West Ham defender Jean-Clair Todibo saw red in the 11th minute of injury-time but as Trevoh Chalobah headed away the corner with the final kick of the game, the comeback was complete and Stamford Bridge irrupted.
Seven changes
It came as no surprise to see Rosenior rotate his squad after our hard-fought 3-2 win in Napoli.
Robert Sanchez was in goal once more, behind a back four of Malo Gusto, Trevoh Chalobah, Benoit Badiashile and Jorrel Hato.
Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez line up in midfield, with Alejandro Garnacho and Jamie Gittens on the flanks, and Cole Palmer expected to play in the number ten role behind striker Liam Delap.
Chelsea had initially started brightly, with several entries and dangerous crosses into the Hammers' box inside the opening five minutes.
However, it was the visitors who took the lead when Jarrod Bowen's in-swinging cross from the right corner of the penalty area bounced in the six-yard box and nestled inside the far post, beyond the diving Sanchez.
For all of the Blues' possession - we had 87 per cent of the ball in the opening quarter of an hour - it counted for little in the first half as we gave the ball away in dangerous areas on a few occasions, and Sanchez had to produce a good stop at his near post to deny Valentin Castellanos and keep it at 1-0.
Chelsea were forced into an early change as Gittens went off injured in the 26th minute, with Pedro Neto taking his place on the right wing.
Caicedo tried to make something happen when he drove into the box and flashed a shot wide from inside the area but it was West Ham who were to grab the next goal.
A crossfield pass to Bowen on the right flank saw the England international thread the ball into the path of Aaron Wan-Bissaka running into the box and his pull-back towards the edge of the area was met by a powerful first-time drive from Summerville, which was too powerful for the diving Sanchez.
Palmer's free-kick midway through the first half was to be Chelsea's only shot on target in the first half and Rosenior decided to make a triple change at the break, as Wesley Fofana, Marc Cucurella and Joao Pedro replaced Badiashile, Hato and Garnacho, with Neto switching to the left flank, Palmer moving to the right and the Brazilian substitute playing behind Delap.
But it was still West Ham who carried the greater threat early in the second half. First Mateus Fernandes forced Sanchez into a save before the Blues goalkeeper had to deny Bowen from close range following a quick free-kick.
The Blues continued to search for a way back into the game and Delap stabbed the ball wide following a low cross from the left by Cucurella.
In the end, it took a moment of class from Fofana to unlock the West Ham defence, as the centre-back drove from inside the opposition half to the edge of the penalty area and clipped a curling cross to the far post, which was nodded in by fellow replacement Joao Pedro.
The goal lifted the Stamford Bridge faithful and there was a renewed vigour about the way the Blues were playing. The Blues fans thought we had the equaliser when Caicedo struck a powerful 25-yard shot towards the top corner but Areola made a superb fingertip save at full stretch to keep it at 2-1 to the visitors.
West Ham fired a warning shot midway through the half, though, as Valentín Castellanos drove into the box and cut inside, before sending a low 15-yard shot wide of the far post.
But it was Chelsea who were to score the next goal and draw level with 20 minutes remaining. Gusto did well to head Neto's deep cross back into the goalmouth and while Max Kilman did superbly to head backwards and away from the arriving Delap with the help of the crossbar, Cucurella was there to diving head the rebound into the empty net.
The fifth and final sub was made as we entered the final ten minutes, as Reece James replaced Gusto at right-back.
But it was West Ham who were left wondering how they were not back ahead when the ball dropped to Jean-Clair Todibo close to goal, only for his close-range effort to clip the outside of the post and go wide.
There were agonising moments down the other end soon after when West Ham failed to clear James' volleyed cross and Palmer struck a low shot which was heading for the bottom corner before it was diverted away from goal by the Hammers' defender.
But there was still time and Chelsea's attackers' class ultimately told with a slick move which would decide the contest.
We were still 40 yards from goal when Palmer passed inside to Caicedo but the midfield's through ball picked out the run into the box of Joao Pedro as he pulled away from his man on the right-hand side of the box and his pull-back cross was struck first time by Fernandez and it squirmed past Areola in the Hammers' goal.
There were still a few minutes of injury-time to survive and the drama was far from over. In the dying moments, Adama Traore's dragging down of Cucurella kicked off a skirmish which resulted in a yellow card for the West Ham winger and Joao Pedro before VAR highlighted a red card offence from Todibo.
