Last November the CPO directors received a progress update from Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands (LDS), the company appointed by Mr Roman Abramovich to explore improvements to the public realm adjacent to the Stamford Bridge stadium.

The streetscape scheme continues to be worked on to take into account feedback received from the initial consultation.

The directors have now received a report from representatives of Mr Roman Abramovich on the constraints and opportunities presented by the unique setting of Stamford Bridge Grounds as the feasibility of expanding the spectator capacity is being studied.

A professional team is assisting Mr Abramovich in assessing the expansion potential on-site technically, economically and socially.

We were informed that in order to continue to compete at the highest level in the Premier League and in Europe, the club could increase its potential economically and “given Mr Abramovich’s long-held position on sustainable ticket prices, a possible way to do this is to expand the number of seats, together with ensuring that the matchday spectator experience would be enhanced.”

The directors were able to ask questions and make suggestions, and are pleased to note that the representatives confirmed that CPO, as site freeholder, remains key to any future expansion proposals and that further consultation would be sought and information provided before any public announcements would be made in the future.

Accordingly, the directors would like to record a close spirit of mutual co-operation and look forward to being able to report back to shareholders in due course. There are no specific stadium external designs yet.
