Calum McFarlane has given his verdict on the challenge that will face Chelsea at Wembley Stadium this afternoon, believing our best chance of success against Leeds United is to take the game to our opponents.

Our interim head coach will be back in the Blues dugout later today, but this time it will be at Wembley, as we take on Leeds in the FA Cup semi-finals.

He won’t be underestimating the challenge our historic rivals will pose when we go head-to-head for a place in the final and the chance to compete for the trophy, but he has a clear idea of what the team needs to do in order to be successful.

In his mind, with the talent within the Chelsea squad, the key to victory could be to take the initiative by playing on the front foot.

‘We want to attack the game,’ explained McFarlane. ‘We want to be aggressive in every phase of the game and we want to have complete control of it, and ultimately win the game.

‘I think that's the best way to win games of football. I think that's the best way for this team to win games of football.

‘But there's also an opponent who wants to do the same, so we have to be better than them in every area. That will be the challenge on Sunday.’

With that challenge in mind, McFarlane and the rest of the coaching staff are doing everything in their power to ensure the Blues arrive at Wembley fully prepared to go toe-to-toe with tough and determined opposition.

‘Everything has been done that we possibly can,’ he added. ‘We’re working really hard to make sure the lads are as best prepared as they can be for what Leeds are going to throw at us and we know what we have to stand up to.

‘They're a really good side that can cause you a lot of problems and we know the challenge we face, but the players are motivated to get to an FA Cup final. Everyone's on board and we're ready.’
