Blues interested in Roma centre-back

Chelsea are reportedly interested in Roma centre-back Gianluca Mancini.

According to Calciomercato, the Blues are keen on signing another centre-back in the summer and Mancini is one of the options.

The 24-year-old has been highly impressive in Paulo Fonseca’s Roma side. He has featured 23 times in Serie A and has been involved in six goals, scoring four and assisting two.

Mancini is reportedly seen as a long-term replacement for Thiago Silva, a defender who also spent part of his career in Italy mastering his craft.

The report states that if the Blues are interested in signing Mancini, they will have to fight off interest from Everton and Paris Saint-Germain, two clubs who want the Italian’s signature.

Cancelo on Pulisic’s trickery

Manchester City full-back Joao Cancelo has named Christian Pulisic as the toughest winger he’s faced in the Premier League.

Speaking to Star Sports Football, the Portuguese international answered questions from fans about his time in England.

When asked about the toughest player he has come across in England, Cancelo chose the American as the player that has given him the most trouble since arriving in 2019.

‘I usually chat with my team-mates about it,’ the 26-year-old confessed. ‘For me, the most difficult winger I have faced in the Premier League is Pulisic from Chelsea.’

The American played an important role in the Blues’ attack last season and finished off the campaign with 21 goal contributions.

Last season, he also became the youngest Chelsea player to score a Premier League hat-trick and also netted the opener in the FA Cup final against Arsenal.

‘He is very skilful,’ Cancelo added. ‘He is a fast player with quick dribbles.

‘So, for me, he is the most difficult winger I have played.’

Baresi praises Tomori

AC Milan legend Franco Baresi has praised Fikayo Tomori’s performances for the Serie A giants since his arrival.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, the Italian has been impressed by our Academy graduate’s eight appearances for the club.

‘He is young and has played well so far when he has had the chance,’ Baresi said. ‘He is skilful and has great physical attributes.

‘He is still adapting to the Italian league and I think he can only grow as a defender.’

Baresi, who spent more than 20 years at Milan, was voted their Player of the Century in 1999.

He also believes the 23-year-old still has a chance to play a role in England’s Euro 2020 tournament.

‘There is great competition in England,’ the 60-year-old said. ‘But he is one of the most promising prospects out there.

‘His experience with Milan can certainly help him develop as a player.’
