In our look at the latest Chelsea-related news stories from the media, the Blues have been linked with Hibernian defender Josh Doig and Glenn Hoddle is impressed with Callum Hudson-Odoi’s performance in his new role.

Chelsea monitoring Doig

The Blues are reportedly keeping an eye on Hibernian left-back Josh Doig.

According to Sky Sports, the Edinburgh-born defender has attracted attention from Stamford Bridge and a few clubs in England during an impressive campaign.

Doig joined Hibs 18 months ago after being released by Hearts and also moved from midfield to left-back.

Doig, whose contract runs up until 2023, has already represented Scotland at youth level and is thought of very highly in the Scottish Premiership.

Speaking in an interview with the BBC, the left-back revealed that the interest from clubs was motivating.

‘It’s good to see when you are putting in all this hard work that big names start showing up,’ he said.

‘I think that it’s all speculation at the moment. As long as I’m playing football and fit, I’ll be happy no matter how far I get.’

Hoddle believes new role suits Hudson-Odoi

Glenn Hoddle was left impressed once again by Callum Hudson-Odoi’s performance in our 2-0 win over Burnley yesterday afternoon.

The 20-year-old has been one of the most impressive Blues players since the turn of the year and has started brilliantly under our new head coach Thomas Tuchel.

In our last two Premier League fixtures against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Burnley, the Englishman has been deployed as a right wing-back and has impressed former Blues manager Hoddle.

‘I think the wing-back role, the system suits him,’ he said on BT Sport which was also repeated in the Metro. ‘He likes to stay wide and hug the line.’

40 per cent of Chelsea’s attacks against Burnley came down Hudson-Odoi’s right-hand side. He also claimed another assist for Cesar Azpilicueta’s opener.

‘It was intelligent play for the first goal, he’s drawn him in, created the space for Azpilicueta and laid it on a plate after an aggressive play.

‘All the positive things down this right-hand side came from Hudson-Odoi.’

AC Milan manager loving Tomori

Fikayo Tomori has been receiving plenty of praise since making his debut for AC Milan.

The Blues loanee made his first Milan appearance in a highly fuelled fixture against Inter Milan and started at the weekend in Serie A.

Milan manager Stefano Pioli has revealed how impressed he’s been by the centre-back.

‘He did well,’ the manager said in an interview that was repeated in goal.com. ‘He came in during a difficult match, and he had arrived only a few days before and trained only twice.’

The Cobham graduate started the weekend in a 2-1 win against Bologna and continues to show glimpses of his potential.

‘I think he showed good things. He can defend well and he is a smart lad and very focused to learn,’ Pioli continued.

‘He arrived in great shape, mentally, physically and technically, and wants to learn our football as soon as possible.’
