Chelsea monitoring Carlisle youngster.

According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea are monitoring developments with teenager Jarrad Branthwaite, who has broken through at League Two side Carlisle United this season.

The paper reports the Blues and Liverpool as two of the club following the progress of the big defender, who stands 1.95m tall and played his first senior game for the Cumbrian club in October.

‘The 17-year-old, a left-sided centre-back who is already in Carlisle's first team, is expected to be sold next month amid interest from a number of Premier League side,’ adds the report.

‘The starlet has made 10 appearances for the League Two club this season.’

Juventus linked with Giroud

Reports in Italy suggest Olivier Giroud could be reunited with former Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri at Juventus, states the Daily Mail.

The France international striker has been heavily linked with a winter move away from Stamford Bridge with several clubs including Inter Milan, Bordeaux, Crystal Palace and Lyon named as interested parties.

However, it appears the 33-year-old is also attracting interest from the reigning Italian champions.

‘La Stampa claim that Juventus have now joined the race for the striker with Sarri keen to provide competition for Cristiano Ronaldo, Paulo Dybala and Gonzalo Higuain following Mario Mandzukic's move to Qatari side Al Duhail,’ says the paper.

‘Giroud's deal at Stamford Bridge runs out in the summer so Chelsea would be wise to cash in on the striker now with the player keen to move on.

‘The Frenchman is yet to indicate where his future lies. ‘

Lamptey lauded after Arsenal win

According to the Sun, Tariq Lamptey’s display after coming on as a substitute in our 2-1 comeback win at Arsenal on Sunday is getting rave reviews from Chelsea fans.

The 19-year-old replaced Fikayo Tomori at right-back just before the hour mark at the Emirates Stadium when we trailed 1-0 to the Gunners and he helped shore things up on his flank as late goals by Jorginho and Tammy Abraham secured a memorable victory in the derby clash.

While Lamptey did not play a direct role in either goal, the England under-20 international played solidly for the Blues, completing all four of his passes and two tackles in a feisty derby.

After the final whistle, the Sun compiled some of the tributes paid to the teenager by Chelsea fans.

‘Pressure?!? Lamptey eats pressure for breakfast, lunch, dinner, supper and snacktime,’ said one fan.

‘A proud moment when you see an amazing student you taught make their debut against Arsenal playing against the likes of Aubemeyang and show blistering pace when they came on. Tariq Lamptey...remember the name,’ added another.

‘We have two generational talents at RB in Reece and Lamptey. That’s unbelievable,’ stated one more supporter.

The Guardian also had word of praise for the youngster.

‘Tariq Lamptey was a bundle of energy at right-back and his smart bursts forward helped peg Arsenal back; the 19-year-old looks a fine prospect and one who should receive plenty more exposure from here,’ stated the paper.
