In our look at the latest Chelsea-related news stories from the media, Chelsea are being linked with Lille striker Victor Osimhen and Villarreal winger Samuel Chukwueze and Danny Drinkwater could be on the move in January after struggling to establish himself on loan at Burnley.

These stories are samples pulled from external media sources. They do not represent the views or position of Chelsea Football Club.

Blues among suitors for Osimhen

According to Sky Sports, Chelsea are among a host of clubs monitoring Lille striker Victor Osimhen, who scored against the Blues in our Champions League meeting in October.

According to the broadcaster, Liverpool and Tottenham are also eyeing the young Nigerian who is expected to stay at Lille for the rest of the season unless the French club receives a January offer that is too good to refuse.

‘The 20-year-old is said to be happy at Lille and his priority is to help them secure qualification to next year's Champions League, while continuing to develop his game,’ states the report.

‘The club are currently third in Ligue 1, four points behind second-place Marseille but 11 behind league-leaders Paris Saint-Germain, and Osimhen has scored 12 goals in all competitions so far.

‘Two of those came in the Champions League, including one against Chelsea in a 2-1 home defeat.’

Osimhen may have a soft spot for the Blues after he admitted in an interview with France Football earlier this year that his disappointment at watching John Terry miss a penalty for the Blues in the 2008 Champions League final motivated him to become a professional player.

Chukwueze linked with Chelsea

Marca reports Chelsea may make a move in January for Samuel Chukwueze who has been in fine form this season for Villarreal.

The 20-year-old winger, who beat Victor Osimhen to win the Nigerian Football Federation’s Young Player of the Year award for 2018, has been a fixture in the La Liga club’s line-up this season, appearing in 16 of their 17 league matches and netting three goals.

According to the Spanish media outlet, Chelsea have a ‘long-standing interest’ in the Villarreal youngster and see him as an option to replenish our forward options.

However, Villarreal coach Javier Calleja feels Chukwueze would be better off staying at the Spanish club for his long-term development.

‘I think Samu is very grateful to everything Villarreal has given him. He is very young and has much to improve, and he knows it,’ he said to Marca.

‘It will be difficult for him to find a place where he is more comfortable and more familiar than at a club like us. He must continue working because in time, he will have to face other experiences and get to know another league.

‘He has time ahead of him and knows he has the love of the fans and the total support of his team-mates and coaching staff here. If he does leave one day, he will be in a better condition.’

Drinkwater moving to Turkey?

The Sun is reporting Danny Drinkwater could be heading to Turkish club Besiktas in January after failing to establish himself on loan at Burnley, with Michy Batshuayi also reported as a target.

The midfielder has appeared in only two games for the Clarets since he joined them in August but according to the daily, the Istanbul side are looking to sign him from Chelsea on an 18-month loan.

‘Now, only six months into a loan with Burnley, [Turkish sports newspaper] Fanatik claim Besiktas want the 29-year-old,’ states the report.

‘The Turkish club have been linked with a large-scale raid on the Premier League in January with Michy Batshuayi of Chelsea and Aston Villa's Jonathan Kodija also subject of speculation.

‘A move could also restart Drinkwater’s struggling career with Sean Dyche only playing him versus Manchester City and Sunderland this year.

‘Both games turned into disastrous defeats with the midfielder allowed back on the bench for four other matches.’
