Chelsea urged to complete Cavani move
Former Chelsea midfielder, Joe Cole, has expressed his hope at seeing the Blues push forward with a move for Edinson Cavani during the January transfer window.
The former England star, a boyhood Chelsea fan, believes Frank Lampard could do worse than add the Argentine striker to his ranks and has urged the Blues to make a move during the winter window when speaking as a pundit on BT Sport.
‘Chelsea only got the transfer ban lifted in December but I think Roman’s [Abramovich] pockets might be burning a bit,’ Cole told BT Sport.
‘He will want to spend some money but it’s important that you get the right players. Who’s available in January?’
‘There’s talk of Cavani. I think if you can get him through the door that would be unbelievable.
‘If Frank takes this Chelsea team to fourth in his first opportunity in the Premier League then that’s an unbelievable job.
‘If you can get the right player, sure, but there’s no need to panic because the lads are doing great.’
Llorente talks could end Giroud’s Inter move
Sky Sports in Italy are claiming that Inter Milan are in talks with Napoli striker Fernando Llorente, which could signal an end to their interest in signing Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud.
According to reports in Italy, Giroud was close to joining Inter and reuniting with Antonio Conte – the man who brought the French striker to Stamford Bridge from Arsenal in January 2018.
However the reports suggest that discussions have seemingly stalled, with the Italians apparently now turning their attentions towards Spanish striker Llorente.
Former Tottenham man Llorente joined Napoli in the summer and has scored four goals in 23 appearances this season, including the second in the 2-0 Champions League win against Liverpool in September.
Terry texts Mount with words of support
The Athletic* claims that Chelsea legend John Terry has been in regular contact with Mason Mount, offering the midfielder words of wisdom in how to make the step up from Academy to senior football at Stamford Bridge.
The midfielder has been a regular for the Blues this term under Frank Lampard, as he was for our head coach last season during a loan spell at Derby County, clocking well over 2,000 minutes in a Chelsea shirt this term.
Mount has featured in more Premier League outings than any other Chelsea player under Lampard, starting 21 of our 24 top-flight games and entering the action as a substitute on three occasions.
However, the article suggests that in recent weeks Mount has had to brush aside a few negative Twitter remarks on his performances, although he has remained the backing of one Chelsea legend.
The Athletic reports: ‘One source of inspiration has actually come from a former influential member of the dressing room.
‘Former captain John Terry may now be assistant manager at Aston Villa, but he has been sending Mount words of encouragement and advice throughout the season via text messages.’
