Cesc praises Gilmour’s stellar showing

Former Chelsea midfielder took to Twitter to praise Billy Gilmour after the teenager’s excellent display in our 2-0 win over Liverpool on Tuesday.

The Spaniard was delighted with the young Scot who put in a man-of-the-match performance to help send the Blues through to the FA Cup quarter-finals.

‘Fantastic,’ wrote Fabregas. ‘Personality on the ball, intelligence in his decision making, always making angles to offer himself and has that bit of aggression in him which is very important specially in the Premier League.’

Fabregas’ view was echoed by BBC pundits Alan Shearer and Jermaine Jenas.

‘He has bossed it. He's done whatever he's been asked to do, whether that's collecting the ball and passing it forward, protecting that back four, spraying the ball around, he's been absolutely magnificent,’ said ex-England captain Shearer.

‘Jorginho is now suspended for the next couple of games, so he's put in a performance that's said to the manager: “You have to keep me in this team.”

‘Everything he has done has been spot on. He is so confident, to have that belief in his ability.’

Added Jenas: ‘Billy Gilmour has looked like he is having a kick-about in the park with his mates. That is the biggest compliment I can give him.

‘I have been so impressed by this young lad. He's had such a calm head and he's not given the ball away all night. It's been a brilliant evening for him.’

Dortmund believe Sancho will stay

Borussia Dortmund chief executive Hans-Joachim Watze has told the BBC that Jadon Sancho is happy at the German club and is not likely to leave in the summer.

Chelsea have been one of a number of top clubs linked with the young England international, who has been in excellent form for Dortmund this season, but Watze believes he wants to remain in Germany.

‘I think he has the feeling that the club does have a good future,’ he said ‘In my opinion, I don’t think he wants to leave.

‘We have a very confidential relationship between us and him and his agents. We will discuss it.

‘It’s not a question of money. For us, it would be the best position if he stays at Borussia Dortmund.

‘We have enough money. We want to have titles. I think this team has a lot more potential with Jadon than without Jadon.’

Blues linked with Dortmund youngster

While Sancho could remain at Dortmund, one of the club’s younger players could be on the move this summer with Nmamdi Collins reportedly drawing interest from a number of clubs including Chelsea, the Sun reports.

According to the paper, Manchester City are favourites to sign Collins but the Blues have also taken a strong interest in the teenage defender.

‘Collins has attracted interest from a number of top clubs with his performances this season,’ states the report.

‘And while yet to make his first-team bow, the 16-year-old has been a regular for Dortmund's under-17 side this term, making 20 appearances to date.

‘The Blues have been chasing the German youth international to bolster their already flourishing academy. But according to Bild, Manchester City now lead the way.’
