Blues to face Bayern in empty stadium?

The Daily Mail reports the second leg of our Champions League tie against Bayern Munich could take place behind closed doors at the Allianz Arena new week because of concerns in Germany surrounding the coronavirus outbreak.

With 256 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Bavaria as of Monday, it appears the local government could take action to restrict large public gatherings in the region.

‘Reports from Germany suggest the Bavarian government are moving to take action, in order to ensure the virus is contained and does not spread further within the country,’ states the report..‘German publication Spiegel have revealed the local powers in Munich are looking to cancel or restrict events which will attract over 1,000 spectators.

‘With a move in place to restrict events in the area, Bayern's Champions League home game against Chelsea on March 18 and the Bundesliga game against Eintracht Frankfurt four days later would be affected according to Bild.

‘A cabinet meeting is set to be held in Bavaria on Tuesday, from which an official decision will be reached.’

Gilmour in line for senior Scotland call

The Daily Record reports Billy Gilmour is to be called up this week for Scotland’s Under-21 squad but the teenager could still make his senior debut during the forthcoming Euro 2020 play-offs.

According to the report, Gilmour’s impressive form for Chelsea in our last two games has prompted Scotland boss Steve Clarke to consider the 18-year-old for the play-off semi-final against Israel at Hampden Park on 26 March.

‘Record Sport understands Clarke has held urgent discussions with young guns boss Scot Gemmill after Gilmour’s sudden emergence as a first team starter at Stamford Bridge,’ stated the report.

‘The 18-year-old was named man of the match in back-to-back games for Frank Lampard’s side with Clarke paying a personal visit to south west London to see him steal the show in last week’s FA Cup win over Liverpool.

‘It’s understood Clarke is concerned John McGinn may not be back from injury in time for the qualification crunch - and that Gilmour could even go straight into his team if the Aston Villa playmaker isn't available for selection.’

Boga aims to reach Hazard’s level

According to Goal.com, Jeremie Boga believes he has the talent to reach the standard of another ex-Chelsea player, Eden Hazard.

The 23-year-old has recently been linked with a return to Stamford Bridge after his impressive form at Serie A side Sassuolo and he appears not to be lacking in confidence as he sizes up his future in the game.

Speaking to DAZN, the French winger pointed to our former Belgian star as one of the players he looks up to and hopes to emulate.

‘Hazard is definitely stronger than me, but not in my head, because I know my talent and I know that over time I can reach that level,’ said Boga, who came through the Chelsea Academy and nine years with the Blues before joining Sassuolo in 2018.

‘I watch many videos of [Lionel] Messi, [Hatem] Ben Arfa and Hazard. Now I like Neymar, too, but I always watch the first three,’ he added.

Boga has netted eight times in 24 games for Sassuolo this season including goals against Juventus and Inter Milan.
