Blues want Varane
Chelsea are reportedly still in the race to sign Raphael Varane in the summer.
According to AS, Real Madrid are interested in listening to offers for the Frenchman as his contract issues are yet to be solved.
The 27-year-old’s contract runs out in 2022 and the Spanish giants see this as the last opportunity to try and get a fee for the centre-back.
Madrid want £61 million for Varane and the Blues will have to fight off Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain if they want to sign him.
Varane recently made his 350th appearance for Real and is a very experienced centre-back for his age.
The Blues have been linked with plenty of centre-backs this summer and the Frenchman would be a huge boost for the side.
The 27-year-old has won 19 trophies in Spain. He has won four Champions League trophies, four La Liga titles and also became a World Cup winner with France in 2018.
Mount wants to win trophies
Mason Mount has revealed his desire to win trophies at Stamford Bridge.
Speaking in an interview with the Daily Mail, the 22-year-old admitted that winning trophies at Chelsea is the number one target.
‘That’s all of our goals,’ he stated. ‘I feel like I really won’t be happy until we achieve that.
‘We need to be setting our targets at that vision of wanting to win Premier Leagues, wanting to win trophies, wanting to win the Champions League.’
The midfielder won plenty of FA Youth Cups while playing in the Academy and believes we have the team to go to the next step.
He also thinks the experienced players can help guide the youngsters to achieve those goals to bring silverware to Stamford Bridge.
‘I feel like with the group we have, we can do it,’ Mount continued. ‘We’re very hungry to achieve it, very driven.
‘With the older players, they have been there, done that and have that experience for us younger boys to feed off, to have little chats here and there and ask “What’s winning at the highest level like?”. It helps us.
‘We want to achieve it and especially at a big club we’ve all come through at.’
Parker praises Loftus-Cheek
Fulham head coach Scott Parker has praised Ruben Loftus-Cheek for his impact since his arrival at Craven Cottage.
Fulham are currently unbeaten in five matches as they continue to fight to get out of the relegation zone. Parker credits much of the improvement of the team to the Blues loanee.
‘I’ve seen someone grow, grow and grow into the player who we’ve all seen,’ the Fulham boss said.
‘There’s still loads to come but this is a player at this moment in time who, given moments in the game, can take the game by the scruff of the neck and be that powerful, technically-gifted midfield player.’
The 25-year-old’s loan move to Fulham was to get him back up to speed after being out for almost 10 months with an achilles injury.
Parker, who also played in midfield for the Blues, sees Loftus-Cheek as an important player to help them stay up.
‘I think he has grown in confidence,’ he added. ‘I think the environment and the work he’s done in a short space of time has been a credit to him.
‘I’ve been very, very pleased with him and he’s going in the right direction.’
