Ferdinand impressed by Tuchel
Former Manchester United centre-back Rio Ferdinand has been impressed by Thomas Tuchel since he arrived at Chelsea.
Speaking on his YouTube channel FIVE, the former England international highlighted what the German boss needs to get right to be a success in England.
‘What he’s got to do, the recruitment they had under Lampard, he’s got to get a tune out of them,’ he said.
‘These are three players (Kai Havertz, Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech) that were tearing up their leagues where they came from so he needs that to be transferred into the Premier League.’
Tuchel has remained unbeaten since his arrival and has gone four games without conceding at home. The BT Sport pundit listed the Blues head coach as one of the most impressive men he has met in football.
‘If he gets that right he’s on the right road for them,’ he added. ‘That will have a big impact and bearing on how well he does but as a man, he’s one of the most impressive men I’ve met in terms of football and the way he talks about the game.
‘It’s early days but Chelsea fans feel very positive about his start.’
Hasselbaink discusses top four hopes
Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink believes Chelsea will have no problem reaching the Champions League spots at the end of the season.
Speaking on Super Sunday on Sky Sports, the former Blues striker credited our defensive stability and believes that will set a good foundation for the end of the season.
‘I’m more convinced that Chelsea will make it,’ Hasselbaink said after our 0-0 draw against Manchester United. ‘At the moment, they don’t get any goals against and that’s a big thing.
‘They only need to score one goal to win matches, they’re not getting counter-attacked that much.’
Our defensive record has been very impressive since the arrival of Thomas Tuchel. We have only conceded two goals in all competitions since the shift to a back three.
‘They are not getting goals against in set-pieces so in that aspect it's good,’ Hasselbaink continued.
‘Against Manchester United, they got the best chance in the game and I still believe Chelsea will be in the top four.’
Scott to move to FC Cincinnati
Former Chelsea midfielder Kyle Scott is reportedly close to getting a move to the United States.
According to The Sun, the 23-year-old has travelled to the United States to try and win a contract with FC Cincinnati.
Scott, who signed for Newcastle at the start of last season, is approaching the end of his deal at St James' Park and is looking for a fresh start in the MLS.
The midfielder has been invited by former Manchester United centre-back Jaap Stam who is the Cincinnati head coach.
Scott spent several years in the Academy and played in a very successful youth team. He was part of the Academy side that won three consecutive FA Youth Cups and two UEFA Youth Leagues.
The 23-year-old also shared the pitch with some of our current first-team players like Andreas Christensen, Tammy Abraham and Mason Mount.
He appeared only once for the Blues in an FA Cup victory over Hull City in 2018.
