Gabriel holding out for Chelsea move?

According to Sport Witness, Brazilian defender Gabriel is keen to play in the Premier League for Chelsea or Everton next season despite Napoli opening transfer talks with his current club Lille.

The 22-year-old centre-back played against the Blues during this season’s Champions League group stage and has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in recent months.

While Napoli have reportedly made contact with the French club for the former Brazil Under-20 international, the report suggests he is keener on a move to England.

‘France Football writes that Lille have already opened talks with Napoli, but that still doesn’t mean he’s on his way to Italy,’ states the report.

‘The player is said to be waiting for offers from Premier League sides, and both Chelsea and Everton get a mention.

‘The outlet claims that Lille should make about €25m with his sale this summer, and that would be important income for the club, given how tough the window will be due to the financial crisis caused by the Coronavirus pandemic.’

Green makeover amuses fans

Former Chelsea reserve keeper Rob Green raised plenty of laughs from football fans after he appeared on a TV show with a radical new look, the Sun reports.

The normally clean-cut 40-year-old was seen in his latest TV appearance on Sky News with a mohawk haircut and handlebar moustache, much to the amusement of viewers.

‘Rob Green about to start his wrestling career,’ said one viewer of the ex-England goalkeeper, who retired at the end of last season.

Added another user: ‘I'm sorry to inform you that Rob Green has been possessed by the spirit of Lemmy from Motorhead.’

Another commented: ‘Congratulations to everyone who had Rob Green in their “post-apocalyptic biker gang leader” sweepstake.’

‘Lockdown has turned Rob Green into Marek Hamsik,’ said one more.

Wise convinced Terry to use money well

John Terry has spoken of an important lesson he received from Dennis Wise as a teenager which convinced him to spend his money more wisely, TalkSport reports.

Having received a Champions League bonus from Chelsea, Terry, then 19, decided to spend the money on a new car but he was quickly put in his place by club captain Wise who chided him in front of his team-mates and told him to return the vehicle.

‘He made me go and take the car back, which I lost money on,’ said Terry to The Footballers Guide to Football podcast.

‘[He then] took me around and helped me find a house, buy a house, so it was the best bit of advice.

‘I was embarrassed at the time but it was the best bit of advice that I could have had. I’m really grateful for all those little bits along the way, guiding the younger players, and he always not only had his eye on the first team but had an interest in the younger boys.’
