Salako suggests Zaha swap deal

Former Crystal Palace midfielder and coach John Salako believes the Eagles could sell Wilfried Zaha to Chelsea in January if the deal also involves Olivier Giroud moving across the capital to Selhurst Park.

Speaking to Love Sport Radio, the 50-year-old said he was sceptical a deal would happen but a swap arrangement for the French striker might prove tempting for the south London side.

‘I honestly don't think Wilf will go to Chelsea,’ he said. ‘[Callum] Hudson Odoi has come back, and I don't think they'll want to hinder his development. But Willian and Pedro are getting on a bit, and maybe they'll want someone to add to that.

‘They could do a great little swap, though. Palace have got their eyes on Giroud, and that would be fantastic - Giroud plus money! If Palace get the right offer, they could be tempted.

‘Wilfried definitely has the ability [for Chelsea], and no Palace fan can begrudge him if he wants that move.’

Loftus-Cheek back on the pitch

Ruben Loftus-Cheek has tweeted video of himself undertaking a solo training session on the pitch at Cobham as he continues his recovery from an Achilles injury that has sidelined him since May.

While the 23-year-old may not yet be ready to return to full training with the senior squad, he showed positive signs of his fitness in the 34-second video captioned ‘We move’, which highlights his mobility in a training drill.

In the short clip, the midfielder was able to sprint, dribble with the ball closely to his feet and shoot into a small goal with no visible signs of pain.

The video has attracted plenty of interest with nearly a quarter of a millions views and more than 22,000 likes since it was uploaded on Tuesday.

PSV monitoring Van Ginkel situation

According to Inside Futebol, reports in the Netherlands say PSV Eindhoven are keeping a close eye on Marco van Ginkel as he recovers from injury although their hopes of bringing the midfielder back to the Eredivisie are dependent on what Chelsea intend to do with the midfielder.

The website suggest PSV would be keen to re-sign the 27-year-old, who captained them to the Dutch league title in 2017/18 while on loan from the Blues but has been out of action since undergoing knee surgery in July 2018.

‘His contract at Stamford Bridge is due to expire in the summer and, according to Dutch magazine Voetbal International, PSV are taking keen interest in his situation,’ states the report.

‘Signing Van Ginkel on a free transfer would be an attractive proposition for PSV, but it is claimed that they may require Chelsea not to look to extend the midfielder's deal.

‘It is claimed that if Chelsea do offer Van Ginkel a new contract then PSV would not be able to financially compete with the Premier League giants.’
