Chelsea receive Haaland transfer boost

German journalist Raphael Honigstein has given an update on the future of Erling Haaland at Borussia Dortmund.

Speaking on the Sky Sports Transfer Talk podcast, Honigstein revealed Haaland was prepared to listen to offers from Chelsea this summer to see if a deal could be agreed.

‘I don’t think he knows where he’s going to end up,’ the journalist revealed. ‘I think the point from a Chelsea perspective was that I was sure he was very happy to listen to Chelsea.

‘And maybe to a certain extent encourage Chelsea to make an advance or see if a deal could happen.’

The striker remains one of the most sought-after players in Europe having scored 41 goals in 41 games. The Norwegian started his Bundesliga season in fine form after scoring a brace in a 5-2 home victory over Eintracht Frankfurt.

‘He was never committed to going to Chelsea in recognition that next year he could have not just one club but five or six to choose from.’

Souness analyses Blues’ attacking options

Sky Sports pundit Graeme Souness has hailed Thomas Tuchel’s attacking options ahead of the 2021/22 Premier League season.

Speaking on the Sky Sports Football Podcast, the former Liverpool man believes the attacking players could play a major role this season.

‘Tuchel is getting a tune out of all them,’ he said. ‘With the addition of Lukaku, it makes them genuine title contenders.

‘If Lukaku stays fit, he’ll get 20-plus goals in that team.’

The Blues have started this season well, winning the Super Cup and then defeating Crystal Palace in the Premier League, with our next fixture taking place on Sunday, away at Arsenal.

‘There is zero question marks against him because of his performances in our league before and having done so well,’ Souness added.

‘He looks to be a different player coming back from the Serie A.’

Neville praises Lukaku signing

Gary Neville has tipped Chelsea as one of the main potential title challengers this season.

Speaking on his podcast, the former Manchester United defender believes the Blues will have a successful season after the arrival of Romelu Lukaku.

‘They are going to be serious this season,’ Neville said. ‘They were last season but they’re going to be serious in terms of the Premier League.

‘Lukaku makes them very dangerous.’

The Sky Sports pundit also tipped the Belgian as a ‘gold signing’ after returning to Stamford Bridge this week.

‘For Chelsea, he will score a tonne of goals,’ he added. ‘He is perfect for that club. This time he comes with maturity, confidence, and hundreds of goals under his belt.

‘I talk about gold signings, where I have no doubt they will be a success. He has the ability to score 25 to 30 goals, I have no doubts.’
