Klopp sees Blues as favourites
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has claimed that Chelsea are now the favourites to win the Premier League title this season.
As reported in the Daily Mail, Klopp believes the ‘bigger squad’ and ‘great players’ will push Frank Lampard’s men to the top of the table. The Blues now sit in third place and are two points off the top.
‘If I watch games then I see that Tottenham are doing well, but Chelsea for me at the moment look like the favourites.
‘They have the bigger squad, great players, they’re playing well. Now they are full on and have unbelievable opportunities to change (the team) between the games and from one game to the other. That’s it.'
2,000 fans returned to Stamford Bridge for the first time since March and witnessed an impressive 3-1 win against Leeds United. We are also unbeaten in our last nine league games.
Evra delighted by Giroud
Olivier Giroud was on target once again when he equalised in the first half of our 3-1 win against Leeds United.
Giroud was on target in the Champions League against Sevilla and scored four goals. He also became the oldest player to score a hat-trick in the Champions League.
His former international teammate and now a pundit for Sky Sports, Patrice Evra named Giroud one of the best strikers at the moment.
‘He is the most complete striker, because even in the French national team, you can see it,’ Evra said on Sky Sports, which was also repeated in Football.London.
‘His four goals against Sevilla, he’s a goal scorer, even when he was at Arsenal. He’s always facing criticism, but he relishes the challenge. That’s what I love about Olivier.’
Giroud is edging closer to 100 appearances for Chelsea and has scored 35 goals for the club. Even though he has been followed by a lot of rumours, Evra believes he always gives it his all.
‘As a manager, he would play in my team – 100 per cent, I don’t have one question about that, but every season we’re going to hear about a Giroud transfer saga.’
Terry wants Cole in backroom staff
Former Blues captain John Terry is in contention to become the next Derby manager and according to the Mirror, he would like to add Ashley Cole to his backroom staff.
Terry has spent the last three seasons at Aston Villa working as an assistant to Dean Smith. The pair gained promotion at the expense of Derby and current Chelsea manager Frank Lampard, two seasons ago.
Cole is currently working as an Academy coach at Chelsea and also does punditry work for Sky Sports.
Head coach Frank Lampard also spoke about Terry joining his old club as a manager.
‘I think it’s a great opportunity potentially for him if it’s true, and also for Derby,’ Lampard said.
‘I’ve got a lot of affection for Derby from my time there and I know what a great club it is and what great fans they have.
‘John will be a hungry, ambitious manager whether it’s Derby or another opportunity.’
