Morata a reported target for Premier League duo

Former Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata could soon be back in the Premier League, with both Spurs and Newcastle interested in a loan move for him, according to reports.

The Spaniard scored 24 goals in 72 appearances during his time at Chelsea and is currently on loan at Juventus in Italy.

A report in The Sun states reports in Spain are linking him with a move back to England from his parent club Atletico Madrid.

‘According to Spanish sports radio show El Partizado de Cope, Morata may return to the Premier League on loan,’ the story states.

‘They reckon that Spurs and Newcastle have also lodged bids for the 29-year-old.

‘Atletico had been set on selling the striker permanently this month. But they could accept a loan bid from either of the two English clubs,’ the report adds.

‘It's claimed that Morata's future could be decided as soon as today.’

Lampard edging closer to management return

Blues legend and former boss Frank Lampard is into the final two candidates for the vacant Everton job, according to reports.

The Toffees parted company with ex-Chelsea manager Rafa Benitez earlier this month after a poor run of results and have minimised their search for their next boss to two people.

The Daily Mail report that Lampard is going head-to-head with ex-Porto manager Vitor Pereira.

‘Everton will hold a decisive round of talks with Vitor Pereira and Frank Lampard as they close in appointing their next boss,’ the report states.

‘Caretaker head coach Duncan Ferguson will also be interviewed one last time for the vacancy as the Toffees aim to wrap up their search for Rafa Benitez's replacement within the next 48 hours.

‘Mail Online reported on Thursday that Lampard had emerged as a lead candidate for the position and would hold further discussions with Everton about the vacancy,’ the report adds.

‘Those discussions are scheduled for Friday and if they go positively the Chelsea legend could find himself in pole position ahead of Pereira.’

Chelsea still keen on Kounde

The Blues have reportedly maintained their interest in Sevilla defender Jules Kounde this winter and once again enquired about a possible transfer.

It was widely reported in the summer transfer window that the France international was a target for Thomas Tuchel’s side, but a deal did not materialise.

According to Spanish outlet Marca, Chelsea are still in contact with Sevilla and Kounde.

‘Chelsea dragged out the operation too long, hoping to release other players they did not have [Zouma],’ the report states.

‘Sevilla gave a deadline on August 20. When the offer arrived, it was rejected for being out of time, in addition to being considered insufficient.

‘Despite the fact that Liverpool has been talked about in this market regarding the interest in the French defender, the truth is that Chelsea has asked again and the answer has been to point towards the player's clause,’ the report continues.

‘This is not the time to sell. He is only focused on reinforcing himself and avoiding those siren songs that, inevitably, end up distracting his own players.’
