Price suggested for Milan’s Piatek

Referencing reports coming out of Italy, the Express claims Chelsea have been offered the opportunity to bring AC Milan striker Krzysztof Piatek to Stamford Bridge.The 24-year-old striker is a Poland international who is in his second season playing in Serie A and moved to Milan a year ago when Gonzalo Higuain made his loan switch to Chelsea.‘Piatek is rated at £27million by the Polish player’s agents,’ the report states.It adds: ‘Tottenham are also interested in signing Piatek, however, and they are still in the battle to nab the former Genoa man. Piatek’s future at Milan is in doubt following the signing of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who has scored on his debut for the club.‘Despite scoring consistency for Milan last season after joining from Genoa, where he burst onto the scene, the goals have dried up this term.’

Inter interest in Giroud reheats

Also coming out of Italy is a report that AC Milan’s big city rivals Inter Milan are renewing their interest in signing Olivier Giroud after their attempt to loan Napoli and former Tottenham striker Fernando Llorente did not come to fruition.

Sky Sports state that Inter have agreed a deal with Napoli for winger Matteo Politano and explain that ‘Llorente was thought to be part of the deal and was set to move to the San Siro on a six-month loan, but Napoli decided to block his exit to provide back-up cover to Belgium striker Dries Mertens, who remains sidelined with a thigh injury.‘As a result, Inter boss Antonio Conte has requested to revive their efforts to sign Giroud, who had already agreed personal terms with the club in a two-and-a-half-year deal.’

Cavani uncertainty

Edinson Cavani, frequently linked with a move to Chelsea from Paris St-Germain during this transfer window, was left out of PSG’s squad for a game against Lille on Sunday.On reporting the news, the Mail cited that the Uruguay international has been a target for Chelsea, Manchester United and Atletico Madrid during January.

PSG boss Thomas Tuchel is quoted as stating: 'He [Cavani] has been training with us for the past few days, but the situation is not clear for him either. And for that, he will not be available [to play against Lille].'‘The veteran striker, 32, is set to see his contract in the French capital expire at the end of the season, and has handed in a transfer request in order to push through a move this month,’ adds the Mail’s article.‘Cavani has snubbed a lucrative offer from United, and has his sights set on a switch to Madrid.’
