Bent tips Jimenez for success at ChelseaDarren Bent has told the Football Insider website that Wolves striker Raul Jimenez would make an excellent summer signing for Chelsea.
The Mexican has been in good form this season, scoring 20 goals including 11 in the Premier League to put the Midlands club in contention for a return to Europe next season.
However, Bent feels the 28-year-old may move on from Molineux in the summer with the Blues among the leading contenders for his signature.
‘What a signing he has been. He is a very good player who has had a great season,’ said Bent of the former Benfica player.
‘From what I’m hearing, there will be a lot of top clubs trying to sign him in the summer. He could do a job at Chelsea.
‘I can see Manchester United or Chelsea coming in for him. Jimenez knows the Premier League, so that is the advantage so he would be a great signing for either.’
Chelsea eyeing Martinez signingAccording to the Sun, Chelsea have reportedly entered the race to sign striker Lautaro Martinez from Inter Milan in a possible player-plus-cash deal.
Citing a report by Calcio Mercato, the paper suggested the Blues have taken a strong interest in the Argentina international forward, who has previously been linked with Manchester United.
‘The 22-year-old striker seems destined to depart the San Siro in the summer having attracted a number of admirers after chipping in with 16 goals so far this season,’ states the Sun.
‘According to Italian news outlet Calcio Mercato, Frank Lampard is desperate to bring in a new forward, with Martinez seen as an alternative to Lyon's Moussa Dembele.
‘They claim that the Blues are willing to offer Antonio Conte's side one of Emerson Palmieri or Marcos Alonso, with Inter known to be a fan of the Spanish left-back.
‘Martinez has been on the radar of United for a number of months, with the Times insisting the Red Devils made an enquiry about him last summer.
‘However they look set to miss out on his signature with the club not prepared to meet his £94 million release clause.’
Blues keeping tabs on RobinsonThe Mirror reports Chelsea could try to sign Wigan left-back Antonee Robinson this summer after his deadline day move to AC Milan fell through.
The 22-year-old looked set to join the Rossoneri at the end of last month’s transfer window but the deal didn’t go through as the Serie A side did not have enough time to complete the medical.
However, that has opened the door for other prospective moves with Chelsea mentioned as one of the clubs who have made an enquiry for the United States international defender
‘The turn of events had caught clubs here on the hop as Paul Cook’s side looked to offload a little-known asset,’ stated the Mirror.
‘Premier League outfits had not realised there was a diamond in the rough at the wrong end of the Championship and at least three have been in touch with the Latics since the news broke that Milan boss Stefano Pioli was on the verge of signing the young left-back.
‘Chelsea, Aston Villa and Newcastle United are all in the market to strengthen the position this summer – and there are potentially other suitors too for the former Bolton Wanderers man.
‘Robinson is contracted to Wigan until 2022, and the Championship club should make a tidy profit on the defender if they sell him to a top-flight side this summer.’
