Richards wants Blues to sign Haaland
Micah Richards believes signing Erling Haaland this summer would be ‘the icing on the cake’ for Chelsea.
Speaking on BBC Sport, the former Manchester City defender praised how organised the Blues have been as we booked our spot in the semi-finals of the FA Cup with a 2-0 win over Sheffield United.
‘I think they have absolutely everything,’ Richards said. ‘They’ve sorted out their defensive problems, the only thing to add that little bit of icing on the cake would be a striker.’
It is reported that Haaland is on the transfer shortlist this summer as he is one of the hottest properties in Europe.
The Norwegian has continued his goal-scoring dominance for Borussia Dortmund, scoring 33 goals in 31 games in all competitions.
‘They’ve got Werner and Havertz in there,’ he continued. ‘If you put Haaland in this team, they’ll be scary next season.’
Guehi on Terry influence
Marc Guehi has impressed plenty of onlookers with his performances for Swansea this season.
In an interview with The Athletic, the 20-year-old credited former Blues captain and current Aston Villa assistant coach John Terry for the influence he had in his early career.
‘I had the chance to train with Terry a few times when he was still playing,’ the centre-back said.
‘I learned a lot from different players too, many who come from different walks of life. It was a humbling experience.’
The Chelsea loanee has been very influential at Swansea and recently made his 50th appearance for the club. He also expressed his desire to emulate what Terry did in his career.
‘Terry was someone I did pay attention to,’ he continued. ‘He was a very decorated player, captained England and Chelsea and someone who had an amazing career.
‘He’s someone I always looked up to as a young defender and someone I’ve tried to model my game around.’
Cole praises Pulisic
Ashley Cole praised Christian Pulisic for his performance against Sheffield United in the FA Cup on Sunday.
Speaking on BBC Sport, the former Blues left-back believed the American should be proud of his performance against the Blades.
Oliver Norwood’s own goal and Hakim Ziyech’s strike put Thomas Tuchel’s men into the semi-finals of the FA Cup where they’ll get ready to face Manchester City.
‘Last season he was very influential and a big player for Chelsea,’ Cole stated. ‘He had that injury and it’s stifled him a bit and he’s in and out of the team at the moment.
‘Today his performance was good and maybe he should’ve scored a goal. But I think he will be pleased with that after all.’
The 22-year-old also came off the bench in the Champions League to assist Emerson’s winner in stoppage time when we faced Atletico Madrid.
The American will be looking to build on those performances when he returns from the international break.
