Blues reportedly considering Thiago Silva

The Telegraph reports Chelsea are considering an offer for veteran Brazilian defender Thiago Silva, who will be available on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain after the Champions League final this weekend.

The report indicates the experienced centre-back has been offered to the Blues and is prepared to take a large pay cut to play in England.

The 35-year-old, who is set to become a free agent after spending the past eight years with PSG, said earlier this week that he was preparing to move on and continue playing in Europe despite feeling a strong connection with the French champions.

‘I have already said a lot of times before I wanted to, that I want to finish [my career] here in Europe,’ said the Brazil international.

‘A decision was taken, now things are calm in my head. It will be...another club, but my heart will stay here.’

Gimenez admits he loves Chelsea

Atletico Madrid defender Jose Gimenez has spoken about his affection for Frank Lampard and Chelsea, opening the door for a possible move to Stamford Bridge, the Daily Mail reports.

Appearing in a video interview with La Liga, the Uruguayan admitted he closely followed the exploits of the Blues as a youngster.

‘I would have liked to play with Lampard,’ said the 25-year-old.

‘I always used to watch Chelsea as a kid, loved them.’

Gimenez, who has spent seven years at Atletico since he joined them from Uruguayan side Danubio in 2013, is under contract at the Wanda Metropolitano until 2023.

He predominantly plays as a centre-back for Diego Simeone’s side but has also been deployed as a right-back and defensive midfielder in the past.

Juventus winger linked with Blues

According to Goal.com, a report from Italy suggests Chelsea are interested in signing Juventus winger Federico Bernardeschi.

Citing a report by Calcio Mercato, the website says the Blues are in competition with Atletico Madrid for the Italy international, who has spent the past three seasons at the Serie A champions.

‘Both clubs could launch bids for the 26-year-old winger this summer, with Juve eager to cash in on a prized asset,’ states the report.

‘Bernardeschi featured in 38 games for Juve in 2019-20, and still has two years left to run on his existing contract.’

Bernardeschi joined the Turin club from Fiorentina in 2017.
