FA Cup final day is special. It's when dreams are fulfilled and lifelong memories are made. For Chelsea supporter Paul Bennett, today's contest at Wembley will be no different.
A lifelong Blues fan, Paul has been chosen by the Chelsea Foundation to walk out with the trophy this afternoon ahead of our contest with Manchester City.
Having struggled with his mental health for much of his life, Paul stopped playing football in his 40s and never expected to return to the game he loved.
However, he discovered walking football through the Chelsea Foundation and eventually became a constant at sessions. It proved transformative.
Now a regular participant, Paul has represented Chelsea in walking football tournaments, something he once thought impossible. The sessions have become a vital part of his wellbeing, giving him structure, connection, and a sense of belonging.
He now plays an active role in welcoming others and supports those who may be facing similar challenges.
Paul was invited down to Cobham this week to watch the Blues undertake our preparation for today's FA Cup final. He got to meet the squad and speak with interim head coach Calum McFarlane, who will lead Chelsea out at Wembley.
Not long behind him will be Paul, who will bring out the trophy. Hopefully, he will not be the only Blue to get his hands on it.
