Ahead of Bournemouth's latest trip to west London, we look back at five memorable moments the Blues have enjoyed on home soil against the Cherries.

Bournemouth have visited Stamford Bridge on ten occasions in all competitions over the past decade, with six of those ending in victories for Chelsea.

Several spectacular strikes have been scored along the way, including one from Moises Caicedo that was named our 2023/24 Goal of the Season.

But we begin our list with an effort from the Cherries' visit in December 2016...

Pedro's pearler

Bournemouth were victorious on their first Premier League trip to Stamford Bridge. Their second was far less successful as the Blues ran out 3-0 winners.

It was Pedro who broke the deadlock – and in fine fashion. The ball was fed to the Spaniard on the edge of the Cherries' penalty area and he made enough room to shift the ball onto his left foot.

With hardly any back lift, the Blues winger was able to guide a shot past three Bournemouth defenders and into the top corner in front of the Shed End.

It set Chelsea on the way to a 3-0 victory, with an Eden Hazard penalty and an own goal from Steve Cook completing the scoring.

Match-winner Morata

The Blues had led for much of this League Cup quarter-final tie thanks to an early goal from Willian. However, in the 90th minute, Bournemouth midfielder Dan Gosling swept home an equaliser and extra time beckoned.

Yet from the restart, the ball was played wide to Davide Zappacosta and he swept a pass upfield to Alvaro Morata.

He touched the ball into the path of Eden Hazard, who advanced into the Cherries' penalty area and produced the perfect backheel for the sprinting Morata to poke the ball home to the delight of the Chelsea supporters inside Stamford Bridge.

'It's not simple to concede a goal in the last minute of the game,' then-Blues head coach Antonio Conte reflected after our dramatic victory. 'But when you have this reaction, it means you have players with great character and heart."

A fine finish

After the 2022 World Cup, the Blues returned to action shortly after Christmas and welcomed Bournemouth to west London.

Victory was needed after a frustrating run of form under Graham Potter – and we made the perfect start when Kai Havertz converted a cross at the back post after 16 minutes.

Our second came eight minutes later from the right boot of Academy graduate Mason Mount. It was a fine finish from the England international, who swept the ball into the bottom corner from 20 yards after being teed up by Havertz.

Caicedo's award winner

It was on the final day of the 2023/24 season that Bournemouth visited Stamford Bridge. Victory would guarantee European football for the Blues.

Our opening goal of what proved to be a 2-1 victory arrived in the 17th minute and it was a strike that few Chelsea supporters will forget.

There appeared to be little danger when Bournemouth goalkeeper Neto rushed out of his goal to make a clearance, but the ball rolled toward Moises Caicedo just inside the Blues' half. The Ecuadorian took a touch and then flighted a shot toward goal from the halfway line.

It was an inch-perfect effort as the ball evaded a covering defender to land in the back of the Bournemouth net. Such was the quality of the strike – Caicedo's first in blue – it was named our Goal of the Season.

James' late leveller

In the meeting between the two sides last season, the Blues were headed for defeat after a Justin Kluivert penalty and strike from Antoine Semenyo had cancelled out Cole Palmer's opener.

Cue Chelsea skipper Reece James stepping up when his side needed a moment of inspiration. In the 95th minute of the game, the Blues' full-back arrowed a 20-yard free-kick past the wall and toward the far post.

Bournemouth goalkeeper Mark Travers had little time to react as James' effort clipped the woodwork on its way into the net.

It was a goal that earned the Blues a point and highlighted the importance of James on his return from a near-two-month injury absence.
