There is no doubt in Millie Bright's mind the Blues are completely focused on the job that awaits them when we face Real Madrid in our final UEFA Champions League group match.
We are in action for the final time in 2024 when we play Real Madrid at the Alfredo Di Stefano Stadium this evening.
And as both sides have already secured their passage to the quarter-finals, it will be a contest for Group B's top spot. The Blues currently sit three points ahead of our second-placed opponents and will remain at the summit if we avoid defeat against Las Blancas.
Sonia Bompastor's side come into our final group match having dropped our first points of the season in the Women's Super League, drawing 1-1 to Leicester City at the weekend. However, Bright believes there is no risk of that result affecting our performance in the Spanish capital.
'For us, it's just focusing on the job we want to do,' Bright told the media in the pre-match press conference. 'And that is to top the group and make sure we put on a performance, especially after the weekend.
'It's about bouncing back and getting back to our levels. Ultimately, our aim is the three points and a good performance.'
'As players, we're experienced,' Bright continued. 'We have been in this position before where we've not had our best game or dropped points, but it's part of football and it's being part of such a competitive league where you don't take anyone for granted. Anyone can take points off anyone.
'We have to learn from the experience, but as players, we're very confident within our group and what we're capable of. I don't think you can let one bad performance and dropping two points affect what we do moving forward.'
Our skipper is expecting a difficult encounter against Madrid, as she highlighted how there are no easy games when you play on Europe's biggest stage.
'It's the games you want to play in,' Bright said. 'As Chelsea players, we want to be playing against the best teams and the best opponents. That's the opportunity that's in front of us. That's the team that we're facing.
'For us, it's about focusing on our performance and making sure we execute our game plan to get those three points.'
With this being our final game of the calendar year, the Blues captain was asked how she might reflect on the last 12 months which have seen the club go through a period of transition amidst lifting silverware.
'It's just about looking forward,' Bright replied. 'Real Madrid is the first point of focus and we want everyone to stay focused on that.
'Of course, we'll have time to reflect. It's been an unbelievable year for us as a club, but for me, my eyes are on the Real Madrid game and then looking forward to 2025.'
