Throughout the 2026 FIFA World Cup, we will be bringing you exclusive interviews with several Chelsea players competing in this summer's tournament in North America. Kicking us off is Moises Caicedo, who will be representing Ecuador on the biggest stage for the second time.

Moises Caicedo only celebrated his 24th birthday in November, yet the Chelsea midfielder is something of an old hand on the international stage.

He has already earned 60 caps for Ecuador and will compete in his second World Cup this summer. Caicedo is also one of the leaders in La Tri's squad, a reference for those less experienced and without the same tournament know-how.

'I'm more prepared [for this World Cup] than the previous one,' Caicedo explains in an exclusive interview, which can be viewed in full below.

'Being one of the leading players is amazing and playing in my second World Cup is going to be nice. For sure, I'm going to help my team-mates, because for some of them it's going to be their first World Cup.

'So, I’m excited to help them and show them what I’m capable of.'

Ecuador, whose squad includes Blues midfielder Kendry Paez, begin their World Cup campaign against the Ivory Coast. Games against Curacao and Germany follow in the group stage.

Four years ago in Qatar, Caicedo and his team-mates didn't make it through to the knockout rounds, but after a strong qualification campaign – Ecuador finished second to Argentina in South American qualifying – the Chelsea midfielder is confident of a better showing.

'It will be very special to be there,' he says. 'The fans will be supporting us in the tournament and we are so excited. For sure, we are going to do really well.'
