Moises Caicedo says the Chelsea players are learning Liam Rosenior’s methods quickly after our new head coach’s first Premier League game in charge of the Blues ended in a victory over Brentford.

The Rosenior era began with successive cup ties, including the midweek defeat to Arsenal when Caicedo was suspended, but in his maiden league outing in charge we secured three points for the first time in over a month.

Caicedo was at the heart of the battling performance that got the better of in-form Brentford, and he reflected on a satisfying afternoon’s work at Stamford Bridge.

‘We are so happy because it was a very tough game and we were able to get our first league win under the new coach,’ said Caicedo.

‘Sometimes you have to play these type of games because in the Premier League, every game is so difficult. We knew Brentford are a great opponent, so we did our best and we got the three points.’

Caicedo also explained what Rosenior has asked of him and his fellow midfielders. The Ecuadorian says acclimatising to fresh philosophies mid-season is part of being a professional – and he believes it is a challenge the squad are embracing.

‘He likes the midfielders to get the ball a lot of the time, so I’m trying to do that,’ detailed Caicedo.

‘It’s difficult in the Premier League because it’s man to man, but I’ve done well in the two games I’ve played under him, and for sure I’m going to do better in every game.

‘The players are trying to adapt as quickly as possible because we need to show our best football in all competitions, but especially this one,’ added Caicedo.

‘The team have reacted really well. We are happy to have him here. He’s a great manager who did well at Strasbourg. Now he’s here with us we are enjoying every day with him.’
