Mykhailo Mudryk was delighted to etch his name onto the scoresheet, notching his fifth goal of the season as Chelsea secured safe passage to the next round of the FA Cup with a 3-2 victory over Leeds United.

The Ukrainian converted the Blues’ second after Nicolas Jackson equalised following the away side’s early opener. After the break, Leeds levelled once again through Mateo Joesph but it was Conor Gallagher who fired Chelsea into the quarter-finals in stoppage time.

Our no.10 proved to be a handful for the travelling Championship side with Chelsea supporters voting him as our Player of the Match on the Official App.

Speaking after the tie, Mudryk was pleased to help his side set up a fixture with Leicester City in the next round and is excited about the Blues' chances in the cup competition.

‘There are very positive emotions, especially because we won and I helped my team with the goal I scored,’ Mudryk began.

‘Every win helps the team to grow in confidence and especially this win because we move forward in this cup and try to get to another final.’

Following cup final heartbreak at Wembley last time out, the 23-year-old is targeting a return to form as Chelsea look to progress in the FA Cup.

‘It’s very important for us to win because everyone was frustrated about the last game,’ he added.

‘We have to keep going, we can’t afford to be sad. We have to win the next game and then the next one and the next one.

‘It helps, especially when you score as it boosts your confidence. Goals help each player to grow and become better and better.’
