Naomi Girma understands the stakes are high for Chelsea in every game from this point on and believes the strength of the team's bond will see us through.

Chelsea have had a packed schedule of late, returning from the international break to win the Women's League Cup final, before facing Women's Super League matches against Brighton and London City Lionesses and a Women's Champions League quarter-final away at Arsenal.

Now, we return to league matters once more with a WSL match against Aston Villa at Kingsmeadow on Sunday, before the second leg against the Gunners at Stamford Bridge the following Wednesday.

Girma is determined to take on each challenge step by step and after sitting out the first three matches of this block with a minor injury, she also reinforced the importance of squad depth.

'I’d say every league match is a must-win now,' she says. 'It's a case of just taking it game by game and not looking too far ahead. It's easy to do that. Whether you're winning the league by a lot or you're competing for a Champions League spot, it’s always the same process. I don't think that changes.

'It’s about always having the same mentality and preparing for every game in the same way to make sure we're ready. We need to be ready to execute and be ready to play for each other. This part of the season is really busy.

'Obviously, we have a lot of games in this block, but that’s when we really go into our roster, and we trust in the preparation, trust that everyone's ready to play a part.

'I think it's especially important at this time in the season when everyone has to play such a big role. We know that. It’s about making sure we lean on each other, and we try to get as many individuals involved as we can.'

The Blues have back-to-back home games in front of us, the first at Kingsmeadow, followed by the return leg against Arsenal at Stamford Bridge. While the former is a smaller venue, the American was keen to stress the supporters can really make a difference to the result.

'The fans can help us by giving us energy,' concludes Girma. 'It's always fun to play in a loud stadium, and at Kingsmeadow, even though it's not as big, it can get really loud when the fans are cheering together. They are quite close to the pitch, so it gives us a boost and helps us keep going.'

A huge UWCL quarter-final second-leg awaits as CFCW take on rivals Arsenal at the Bridge. The stakes have never been higher. Make sure you’re there and back the Blues in this important knock-out fixture!
