Chelsea defender Nathalie Bjorn emphasised the need to 'put some more details into our game' as the Blues continue to develop and evolve under the guidance of Sonia Bompastor.
After taking the reins from Emma Hayes in the summer of 2024, Bompastor steered Chelsea to a domestic Treble in her first season in charge.
The Blues went unbeaten as we claimed a sixth straight Women's Super League title and defeated Manchester City and Manchester United in the finals of the League Cup and FA Cup.
A strong start has also been made to the new season, with four victories recorded from our opening five WSL matches. It has put us top of the table once again, with a point advantage over Man City.
We were held last time out, however, as Manchester United secured a 1-1 draw and a point in the driving rain on Friday evening. And Bjorn admitted the Blues weren't quite at our best in the opening period at the Progress with Unity Stadium.
‘It was tough,’ said the defender. ‘We were struggling in the first half, but maybe went out and played a better second half. We created chances and we could have scored more goals.
'I think we did enough to take three points from this game. It didn’t happen for us but we are happy with a point, and we will keep working.
‘United are in a good rhythm right now, they are a good team playing good football, and they have had a lot of good counter-attacks. One of our biggest strengths is to take one point, or three, even if the game is tough.’
After a summer in which several of her squad represented their countries at international tournaments, Bompastor has opted to rotate her side heavily this term. However, Bjorn has started each of our five games thus far.
And despite the success achieved last term, the Sweden international believes there is still more to come from the Blues as the campaign progresses.
‘We have one quality player after another,’ she continued. ‘I think that’s amazing. We are a good team with depth, and everyone wants to play.
‘We want to keep going from what we did last season, both performance-wise and in winning the league this year as well. We want to put some more details into our game because this is now Sonia’s second year, and we will keep working on that.’
