A breathless evening of knockout football at Stamford Bridge saw Chelsea fight back from two goals down in the second half to win 6-3 and book our place in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.

Neto more than played his part. He was one of four players brought on by Alonso during the break to help turn things around, and scored our third goal to give us the lead for the first time with a composed finish after Morgan Rogers had beaten the Leeds defence to the ball and played in his team-mate.

‘Morgan did a really good effort, and me, I just thought to put the ball the other way that it was coming, as I thought the goalkeeper was already coming to the other side,’ explained Neto.

‘I think Morgan did the most difficult part, then I just had to put the ball in the goal, to be honest.’

That was just one moment of an incredible 90 minutes of action, with the Portuguese international reflecting on what changed ahead of our second-half fightback.

‘It's a little bit crazy,’ he admitted. ‘I don't like to concede that many goals, but we are working on that. Of course, we like to score six goals, but to concede three is not a thing that we want to do in a lot of games, but we’re happy for the win.

‘I think in the first half they caused a lot of trouble because they are a physical team, they are really intense. At half-time, the manager spoke about that, that we needed fresh legs, fresh mentality, we needed to be more aggressive.

‘We started the second half conceding the second one, but I think it was a really good test for us. We kept calm and then, with the players that we had and the way we played, it was really good. We scored six goals, got through and we’re already looking forward to the next one.’

The 6-3 win was another example of the potent attacking threat the Blues have demonstrated under Alonso’s leadership, with a total of 16 goals scored already across our five fixtures so far in 2026/27. Needless to say, players like Neto are enjoying themselves on the pitch and feeling full of confidence.

‘I promise we will continue to try to score this amount of goals in a game. It will be very good, to be honest,’ Neto added.

‘It's been really joyful. With the guys that we have on the pitch, with the guys that come on in the game, I think the group is in a top mentality. Everyone wants to help, everyone wants to enjoy.

‘I think we learned a little bit from what happened last season. The boss brought a little bit of freshness in that level and, as you can see, everyone is playing with a smile on their face. Even in difficult situations, we think we can turn it around with the quality of the players that we have.

‘The mentality of the club is to win in every competition that we are in. So we want to compete until the last game in the Premier League. We want to go to the final to win the Carabao Cup and in the FA Cup the same. I think this should be the mentality of the team.’
