Goalkeeper Katie Cox has committed her future to Chelsea by signing a new three-year contract and will now head out on loan to Nottingham Forest for the 2026/27 season.

Cox has been with the Blues since the age of eight, impressing while graduating through our Academy system. In 2022 she won the FA Youth Cup and was named Chelsea Women’s Academy Player of the Year two years later.

After featuring as an unused substitute for the senior team on several occasions, the 20-year-old spent the 2025/26 season on loan in Scotland with Aberdeen, where she quickly established herself as first choice between the posts, featuring in 23 of their 26 league fixtures.

Upon signing her new deal, the goalkeeper said: ‘I’m delighted to be able to continue my future at Chelsea and be offered another contract at my childhood club. It's a great opportunity to continue developing and keep learning from the best players and coaches in the world.

‘I want to keep learning, stay down-to-earth and be humble. I want to give a massive thanks to my parents for supporting me, especially over the last year while I've been so far away from home.

‘I’d also like to thank Phil (Radley) and Sonia (Bompastor) for putting their trust and belief in me and for seeing me as a part of the future at this club.’

Cox has also represented England from Under-16s to Under-23s level, being part of the squad which reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Women’s European Under-19 Championship in 2024.

She will be joining a Nottingham Forest side who finished seventh in their first season in WSL 2, having won National League North during the 2024/25 campaign.

Congratulations, Katie!
