Noni Madueke has been called up to the England Under-21 squad for the first time as a Chelsea player.

The winger, who we signed from PSV Eindhoven in January, has been named in Lee Carsley’s 26-player squad for a pair of friendly games against France and Croatia. Levi Colwill, the Chelsea defender on loan at Brighton this season, is also selected.

Madueke has played four times for the Under-21s, but not since last March. An injury ruled him out of the most recent meet in September, when Colwill started friendly victories against Italy and Germany. He also has four caps at that level.

England are preparing for this summer’s European Championships in Georgia and Romania with warm-up games against France, at the King Power Stadium on Saturday 25 March, and Croatia, at Craven Cottage on Tuesday 28 March.
