The FIFA Club World Cup will see some of the best players on the planet take to the field over the next month. So, why not ask members of the Chelsea squad to pick their favourite footballing XI. Next up is Noni Madueke...
The best thing about these teams is that they are subjective. There can't be a right or wrong answer.
It could be a player they idolised growing up or a team-mate they played with during the youth team. It is all about personal preference.
Noni's line-up includes some of the greatest players to play the game, and four of those included are Chelsea legends!
So, how many of Noni's side would make your favourite XI?
Formation: So I'll go with a 4-3-3 shape, with two advanced midfielders.
Goalkeeper: Manuel Neuer
In my lifetime and from what I’ve seen, he’s been the best. He’s got the catalogue to match as well, with the World Cup win and a couple of Champions Leagues. He’s a legend of the game.
Right-back: Sergio Ramos
He is more known as a centre-back, of course, but he started off playing as a right-back, so I've got him in there. He was a great all-round defender.
Centre-back: Thiago Silva
That guy is unbelievable. He was 38 and 39 years old when I played with him, but I never used to see strikers get the better of him, whether they were super fast or super strong. On the ball, he is unbelievable, and he had mad clutch moments. And he’s a great person, too.
Centre-back: Virgil van Dijk
The guy is so annoying to play against because you struggle to find ways to really affect him. He never looks like he’s affected by anything.
Left-back: Ashley Cole
He is a good friend of mine from the England Under-21s and him being at Chelsea. He was an all-round fantastic player and a great guy as well.
Defensive midfielder: N’Golo Kante
He is unbelievable. I remember watching him play his first game back against Liverpool when he had been out for three months or so, and he was by far the best player on the pitch. It wasn’t even close. He has the accolades to match: Champions League, World Cup, Premier Leagues. He was also part of that amazing Leicester team.
Central midfielder: Frank Lampard
I don’t need to speak much about his football abilities; he’s probably the best goalscoring midfielder that has lived. He won pretty much everything there is, and is just another great person. He helped me a lot when I first arrived here and gave me my first run of games. But that’s not the reason I have him in this team. He was an unbelievable player whose record speaks for itself, his longevity, and the 20-goal seasons for five or six years in a row. You don’t see that from midfielders.
Attacking midfielder: Lionel Messi
As a 10, slightly ahead of Lampard, I’m going to go with Lionel Messi. He’s just ridiculous. Arguably the greatest player of all time.
Right wing: Kylian Mbappe
It’s not quite his position, but I have to get him in because he’s the best player of my generation so far. His goalscoring, his 1-v-1 ability, it’s unbelievable.
Left wing: Neymar Junior
You pay to watch these types of players. In terms of skill and technique, Neymar Junior was in a league of his own. And he had the end product to match, too.
Striker: Cristiano Ronaldo
He’s my favourite player of all time and is my nine. He is the best goalscorer ever. He can hurt you in every single way – left foot, right foot, he can run in behind, come short, play in tight spaces, score headers. He’s a nightmare for defenders. He’s the complete attacker in my opinion. If you wanted to make an attacker in a lab, you would come up with Cristiano.
Any other final thoughts? Captain?
My captain would be Thiago Silva. He is a great leader, super passionate about the game. Not everyone has this, but he has a way of motivating you. Of course, he leads by example, but even though he didn’t speak much English he had an aura about him which motivated you to give your absolute best. That is a great team!
