Sjoeke Nusken believes Chelsea are rebuilding confidence and momentum after recording back-to-back wins and clean sheets in the Women's Super League.

After suffering disappointing defeats to title rivals Arsenal and Manchester City in January, Sonia Bompastor's side has responded by sealing a 2-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur and defeating Liverpool by the same scoreline at Kingsmeadow on Sunday.

It was Nusken that got us off the mark against the Reds, with the German midfield producing a deft finish to turn home Lauren James' low cross. James then sealed our victory in the second half with a stunning solo effort: a 20-yard drive which flew into the top corner.

With six matches of the WSL campaign remaining, the Blues remain in the Champions League places and are one point away from direct qualification to the league phase.

And Nuksen believes our previous two results are proof that Bompastor's side are progressing back toward their indomitable best.

‘We are trying to build up momentum,' our German midfielder explained after our victory over Liverpool. 'We are getting our confidence back after those two games. We are on our way.

‘It’s important to go from game-to-game. We are trying to win every game from here and we know it will be tough for the season.’

Nuksen's goal against Liverpool, which arrived shortly before the half-timeinterval, was her first in the WSL this season. It was also a byproduct of the attacking mindset displayed by Bompastor's side throughout the 90 minutes.

‘It was another good game and a good performance from us,’ reflected Nusken.

‘Right from the beginning we created a lot of chances, got a clean sheet and scored some goals, so all in all it was a good game.’

Our WSL campaign pauses in the weeks ahead, with the Blues' attention turning to domestic cup action. We take on Manchester United in the Women's FA Cup on Sunday and then face them in the Women's League Cup final next month.
