The form

Chelsea came through a tough battle with Austria Vienna to win 1-0 in our first league phase match of the competition, while Lyon delivered an 8-0 thrashing of Servette.

We have faced Lyon twice in the Women's Champions League knockout stages. In 2019, we were trying to establish ourselves as a force in Europe and came up just short with a 2-1 defeat in the first leg away from home before earning a hard-fought 1-1 draw at Kingsmeadow.

By 2023, we had vastly matured as a team, and another thrilling tie against the French giants saw us come away with a thrilling last-gasp win to reach the semi-final of the competition.

We took the tie to penalties with the last kick of the game in extra time when Maren Mjelde held her nerve to convert an equalising spot-kick in the eighth minute of stoppage time. We would then go on to win a dramatic shoot-out 4-3 after Blues goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger saved penalties from Wendie Renard and Lindsey Horan.
